6th Annual Wine Tasting

Tickets: $50 each
Volunteer Guardianship One-on-One, Inc. will hold its sixth annual Wine Tasting Event at Copper Hill Country Club. The tasting is being sponsored for the sixth year by Central Liquors. Each staff person has hand-selected the wines to be poured on the day of the tasting. Collectively, they have chosen 64 of their most favored wines of the year.
Attendees will have an opportunity to vote on which wines they prefer. The wines selected will vary in price from the extravagant to very affordable, but all will be high quality. Each staff member has experience in being able to locate wines of great quality which are also a good value. At the end of the event the votes will be tallied to determine which staff person has chosen the most popular wines. Bike Maintenance Workshop

A vendor expo will be held 7-8:30 p.m. and the workshop begins at 7:30 p.m. Representatives from Orca, Orbea, Zipp, Reynolds, Pearl Izumi and others answer questions about every aspect of cycling, from towpath to triathlon. This is a free event open to the public. There will be refreshments, give-aways and lots of advice and information from knowledgeable coaches, mechanics and experienced athletes. Sourlands Night Hike

Sourlands Mountain Reserve, Rileyville Road parking area
Ages: 10 through adult (Children must be accompanied by an adult)
Cost: $3 per person
Walk into the woods of the Sourlands Mountain Reserve with Tom Sheppard, Chief Park Naturalist. We will look for evidence of animal activity and elusive nocturnal animals, such as spotted salamanders and wood frogs, by flipping rocks and logs. Towards the end of the walk, we will try calling for a certain nocturnal bird. Note: Due to the parking area, this program is limited in space. A Camp-In at Liberty Science Center is a memorable experience! There will be free time to explore on your own. The group will reassemble at 1:30 PM on Sunday with a goal to return to the Arboretum by 3:00 pm. Please sign up by February 26, as this trip is limited to 24 participants. Easter Bunny and Egg Hunt

The Easter Bunny arrives Saturday morning, 9:45am at the center’s main entrance (next to Carter's). Hundreds of plastic eggs filled with treats & prizes for children will be hidden throughout the village. Children will receive free bunny balloons while supplies last. The Annual Easter Egg Hunt will begin following the arrival of the Easter Bunny. Bring your children and enjoy a great day of fun and savings. Stores open at 10:00am. Bombay Hook, Delaware – Bird Watching

With over 15,000 acres of preserved habitat, predominately tidal salt marsh, Bombay Hook is a key refuge for migratory shorebirds. Possible sightings include Black-necked Stilts, American Avocets, and Wilson’s Phalaropes. Bombay Hook was established in 1937 as a link in the chain of refuges that extend from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico, and its value to wildlife has grown as the surrounding habitat has been lost to development. Please note the early departure time; participants are welcome to sleep on the drive to Bombay Hook. Wanted: Invasive Plants

Location: Echo Hill Playground
Ages: 12 through adult
Cost: free
What are invasive plants? Which ones should we be on the lookout for? There are many more alien plants than most people realize. In this evening hike, Park Naturalist Laura Kroon and Melissa Almendinger of the Upper Raritan Watershed Association and the Central Jersey Invasive Species Strike Team will point out invasive species and discuss what can be done about them. We will do some light hand pulling and cutting. We will also look at a few beneficial native plants. Sunday Poster Auction features over 150 original works of art from local artists - to benefit the Shad Festival Scholarship fund for area students pursuing a collegiate career in the arts.

8th Annual Ride for the River Poker Run
9 am
Spruce Run Reservoir
1 Van Syckels Road, Clinton
Breakfast and check-in will be held between 9-11 a.m. at the Spruce Run Reservoir (Group Picnic Area), 1 Van Syckels Road in Clinton. A scenic 65-mile route will take the riders through the watershed of the South Branch of the Raritan River, traveling through some of the most spectacular landscapes in New Jersey, while they stop to collect five cards to make up their poker hand.
The motorcycle poker-run ride ends back at Spruce Run Reservoir where the top hands will win cash and prizes. This year’s picnic celebration features a pig roast and the soft rock music of the John Austin Band. The public is invited to attend and all riders are encouraged to enter the People’s Choice Bike Show and compete for trophies in multiple motorcycle categories. Tickets for a 50/50 cash raffle, to be awarded at the event, are available for advance sale and at the event.
